The Use of Fragrance Has Been Around for Many Centuries

No one knows exactly when the use of perfumes and colognes first started. Humanity has found many ways to make their homes and their bodies smell better throughout the century. Perfumes and colognes have become less popular than they were in ancient times, but that is only because more effective cosmetic products have replaced them. No one can imagine life in the modern world without deodorant. Deodorant may have replaced body colognes and perfumes, but most deodorants and anti-perspriants are scented. Deodorant removes the offending odor. The scent improves the smell of the person around them. As teenagers learn when they reach their adult years, deodorant is not a replacement for soap.

No one knows exactly when the first perfumes came into use. Bottles have been found throughout many archeological dig sites. The idea of improving body odor seems to have been around at least as long as our first cities and possibly longer. Perhaps humans felt a need to improve their aroma when they started living in closer proximity to one another.

We know that other fragrances used to improve the home have been around since at least the first century of the current era. The Bible tells the story of the three wise men bringing gold, frankincense and myrrh. The last two items in the list were used to provide a pleasant aroma for the home.

Even if we cannot be sure when humans first started using perfume and cologne, we can be sure that the use of these products will continue. Modern forms of the idea include the popular line of Axe body sprays. Users who control the amount of the product they use will cause no problems. People who overdo it may set off someone’s sinuses, asthma or allergies. Men can still buy perfume for their significant other if they are willing to spend the money.
